Cynthia Miller-Idriss (American University), author of Extreme Gone Mainstream (2017) and Hate in the Homeland (2020) joins ISPRII and UT Slavics via Zoom to discuss her research into the popular culture of the European far-right. Dr. Miller-Idriss will share how far-right aesthetics, music, and combat sport have informed her own work and will offer thoughts and advice to two of ISPRII’s student research affiliates about their ongoing projects with related subject matter. On November 12, Dr. Miller-Idriss and one of the student researchers will record a more in-depth conversation as an episode of CREEES' Slavic Connexion podcast. They’ll be discussing what it’s like to study far-right culture and violence, what drew them to it, and why it’s important.
